This is the lawyerly equivalent of a SLAPP suit. They have a business
model that involves baseless or questionable lawsuit, and depends on
people not being able to afford to defend themselves. So when somebody
provides a defense that can be used cheap, they object.
Since at least one of the defenses is valid, I don't think a Rule 11(*)
filing will get them anything. They just hope to scare him off. I hope
he gets sanctions against them.
(*) Against filing frivolous/groundless lawsuits, motions, or other process.
