[ NNSquad ] Webcast Information for TODAY's release of the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace
Do your teeth grate every time you hear government officials use the essentially silly term "cyberspace" in official contexts? Personally, it gives me something of the same sick feeling I still get every time I see the phrase "homeland security." How often did you ever see or hear the word "homeland" used officially by our government prior to 9/11? Fatherland? Homeland? Cyberspace? Of course, as Orwell knew, control of language can be key to control of thought. In any case, here's the webcast info for this morning's WH "Cyberspace ID and Controlling the Internet Through 'Voluntary' Means that Will Quickly Become Mandatory If You Want To Use Most Web Sites and a Bonanza for Cybercriminals Who Steal Your Credentials" Strategy. A media conference call begins in about 15 minutes. And when reviewing the associated materials, be sure to keep in mind other government efforts related to Internet Control. ICE shutting down innocent Web sites without due process. The U.S. imposing its will on non-U.S. sites via control of the Domain Name System. Congress moving full steam ahead with legislation to micromanage and censor sites that might merely link to "offending material" -- especially Google and other Search Engines. Now add government-linked Internet IDs into the mix. What does that spell?
