This would probably get wider distribution if the system were built  
with the input and support of the folks who write such software (on  
the Mac Sustworks (ipnetmonitor), and the folks who make Little  
Snitch, come to mind).   If the system is built into their products  
from the get-go we are more likely to see usage beyond just the  
hardcore techies.
