FTC accuses T-Mobile of massive bogus charging scam (11 Alive): http://www.11alive.com/story/tech/2014/07/01/ftc-tmobile/11915883/ The Federal Trade Commission accused wireless carrier T-Mobile of adding bogus charges totaling "hundreds of millions of dollars" on customers' accounts without their consent. In a statement released Tuesday, the FTC alleges T-Mobile placed charges on mobile phone bills for premium subscriptions that were never authorized by customers. The agency says T-Mobile participated in "cramming," a practice where the carrier places charges for services from a third-party company on consumers' bill without telling them. - - - Since I'm a big T-Mobile fan, I'm very interested in T-M's side of this story. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy I am a consultant to Google -- I speak only for myself, not for them.
