Viacom vs. small cable companies (WSJ): http://online.wsj.com/news/article_email/viacom-60-cable-firms-part-ways-in-rural-u-s-1403048557-lMyQjAxMTA0MDEwODExNDgyWj While the two sides appear to be willing to move on without each other, one wrinkle in the dispute has caught regulators' eyes: Viacom has blocked the full episodes of programs such as "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on its websites for the broadband customers of the cable operators who have dropped its TV channels. Margo Davenport, a lawyer in the Federal Communications Commission's media bureau, said the move is "something we're concerned about." The American Cable Association, which represents the smaller operators, says Viacom's moves violate the spirit of "net neutrality," the principle that all Internet traffic should be treated equally. - - - --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://google.com/+LaurenWeinstein Twitter: http://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list http://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
