Not really 'flat rate'? German court trips up Deutsche Telekom's throttling plans http://j.mp/1iDE9VI (ZDNET) Deutsche Telekom's plans to introduce throttling for heavy users appears to have run into difficulties. ( Online throttling and site-blocking to be outlawed in Europe under net neutrality plan ) A regional court in Germany ruled on Wednesday that throttling broadband connections would put Deutsche Telekom's customers at an "unreasonable disadvantage". The telco recently announced plans to limit users' broadband speeds to 2Mbps after they exceeded specified monthly download limits, starting at 75GB for some plans. The caps were scheduled to come into force in 2016. - - - --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://google.com/+LaurenWeinstein Twitter: http://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list http://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
