[ NNSquad ] A note about nonsense from the FBI re intercepts
A note about nonsense from the FBI re intercepts I want to point out that this following statement from the FBI is nonsense. The very existence of the kind of intercept capabilities the government wants will by definition drastically decrease the security of the targeted systems. No amount of "good software coders" will change this: Marcus Thomas, former assistant director of the FBI's Operational Technology Division, said good software coders can create an intercept capability that is secure. "But to do so costs money," he said, noting the extra time and expertise needed to develop, test and operate such a service. -- http://j.mp/YfJv59 (Washington Post) --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info - Data Wisdom Explorers League: http://www.dwel.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://vortex.com/g+lauren / Twitter: http://vortex.com/t-lauren Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list http://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
