Google and Time Warner "trade shots" http://j.mp/VhUtnH (L.A. Times) "In another two days, this fight may be called because there will be no referee. On Friday, the FCC is expected to phase out the program access rule that requires Time Warner Cable or any distributor to make content it owns available to a rival at a reasonable price. Google has been making the case to keep the rules, while Time Warner Cable has told the FCC that the rules are no longer necessary. The FCC isn't the only place Google and Time Warner Cable are at odds." - - - The FCC now seems to be increasingly toothless when it comes to even the most basic aspects of the Internet. No wonder the U.S. lags so far behind so much of the world when it comes to deployment of high speed Internet services, decent pricing for consumers, and so on. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info - Data Wisdom Explorers League: http://www.dwel.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://vortex.com/g+lauren / Twitter: http://vortex.com/t-lauren Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list http://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
