British journalist's Twitter account suspended after he criticized NBC's Olympics coverage http://j.mp/M63zeH (Poynter) "The Independent's Los Angeles bureau chief, Guy Adams, lost access to his Twitter account because he revealed the corporate email address of an NBC executive on Twitter after complaining about the network's Olympic coverage, John Koblin writes. Adams called Matt Lauer a "tosspot," savaged NBC for making people on the West Coast wait six hours to watch the opening ceremonies and shared NBC Olympics President Gary Zenkel's work email address. Emails Koblin reproduces from Twitter say Adams got his account yanked because of that last one." - - - It has now apparently been confirmed that NBC filed the complaint that resulted in their Olympic partner -- Twitter -- suspending the account. However, the NBC exec in question's corporate email address was already widely known -- consisting of the obvious first.last@nbcuni.com -- and had been previously published on a range of Web pages that I was able to find with just a minute of Google searching. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info - Data Wisdom Explorers League: http://www.dwel.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://vortex.com/g+lauren / Twitter: http://vortex.com/t-lauren Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list http://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
