[ NNSquad ] Re: In the Mirror, Privacy vs. the Color of Internet Greed
Lauren: Sometimes the ads are themselves valued content. It strikes that IS often the case in magazines, WAS often the case in local newspapers (classifieds and coupons), and is/was sometimes the case in radio and TV -- think of some of the great Super Bowl ads, but also many other classics. Even some Internet marketers manage to make "infomercials" that provide valuable and entertaining content along with their pitch for whatever. Others, like the ads associated with Google searches and gmail, are at least unobtrusive. So perhaps one of the longer-term solutions is to develop the Internet equivalents of the 1984 Apple ad, or "where's the beef" or whatever one's favorite TV or radio add is -- or variants of the coupons for local shopping that used to be a mainstay of local newspapers. -- Rollie Cole 5902 Westslope Drive Austin TX 78731-3655 512-537-0898 _______________________________________________ nnsquad mailing list http://lists.nnsquad.org/mailman/listinfo/nnsquad
