[ NNSquad ] Internet pioneer Einar Stefferud, passes away
Einar (known to everyone as "Stef") went all the way back in the networking world. We were in almost daily communications back in the ARPANET days. He was the moderator of one of the very first and most important network mailing lists -- MSGGROUP -- which we used to establish, discuss (yes, and argue) many of the fundamental issues and standards that make even this very email message possible today. He will very much be missed. --Lauren-- ----- Forwarded message from David Farber <dave@farber.net> ----- Date: Mon, 26 Sep 2011 10:12:17 -0400 From: David Farber <dave@farber.net> Subject: [IP] Internet pioneer Einar Stefferud, passes way Reply-To: dave@farber.net To: ip <ip@listbox.com> I have known Stef for many many years and worked on many joint activities with him. I particularly remember a gig we did together for the Mormon Church in SLC as well as the early days of email discussion groups. It has been years since I saw him but I remember him well and with pleasant memories. I just spoke with his wife Donna, who asked me to relay that he passed way Sept 22, surrounded by family.
