Stephen Colbert Tries Tim Pawlenty's "Google Test" http://j.mp/iOaO2B (This message on Google Buzz) - - - You may recall a week ago in "GOP Presidential hopeful: Eliminate all government services you can find via Google (+ response)" - http://j.mp/l2dJXH (Google Buzz), I noted Tim Pawlenty's assertion "We can start by applying what I call 'The Google Test.' If you can find a good or service on the Internet, then the federal government probably doesn't need to be doing it." Now Stephen Colbert has used his Comedy Central show to "endorse" Pawlenty's "Google Test," and to demonstrate how "effective" it really could be: http://j.mp/l4wjJ5 (Gawker [Video]) Note that one of the commenters on my original posting correctly presaged Colbert's bottom line on this issue! --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://j.mp/laurenbuzz Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com
