Not really announced quite yet, but Google's cloud music site has gone live + my comments http://j.mp/m6fhm4 (This message in Google Buzz) - - - http://j.mp/k4z8eL (music beta by Google - may not be accessible outside the U.S.) This is Google's cloud-based music service, reportedly launched without the cooperation of the music industry. Competitive pressures to get something like this going have been intense. The reaction (perhaps legal and otherwise) of the RIAA, etc., even to people storing their own purchased music in the cloud, will be interesting. Some recent suggestions from the music industry relating to "acceptable" methodologies for this area have involved draconian tagging and tracking requirements. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://j.mp/laurenbuzz Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com
