Porn Industry "protector" promotes mass DMCA takedown system [Not April Fools] [Not April Fools, as far as I can tell.] A fellow by the name of Nate Glass (as identified on his site and in the associated domain registration) appears to be running and promoting a (one-man?) automated "stolen porn" takedown tool, via: http://j.mp/fQPH6N (Takedown Piracy) His interest appears to be protecting the porn industry from "porn freeloaders," via mass takedown attacks on what he calls "cyberlockers" (what we used to call FTP sites), and other services including blogs, search engines, etc. He has posted a variety of stats for what he says are successful takedowns, and perhaps to keep things interesting, some of his posts are liberally seasoned with obscenities. The adult entertainment industry certainly has a right to protect its intellectual property. Whether the approach promoted by this site is the best way to do it would seem a very open question. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://j.mp/laurenbuzz Quora: http://www.quora.com/Lauren-Weinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com
