this is utterly nonsense, at least for what has leaked to the press so far.

apparently a civil court in rome has found Yahoo guilty of contributory
infringement because it allows to find sites that link to pirated material.

notwithstnding the eCommerce directive...
if the case is really as presented by the first news agencies (and I
can't think of any other possibility), it has no chances to survive in
the appeal court.

Open Gate Italia helped the distributor of the movie in Italy in this
trial. it is a lobby company in rome founded by the former head of
regulatory affairs of Wind (orascom group)
