Research re Bootleg Copies of the Original Star Wars - Blast From the Past ...

With so much controversy surrounding the topic of film piracy and the
Internet, I suppose the following was inevitable, looking back to the
time when bootleg copies were anything but digital in nature!

Just got one of the stranger queries I've seen in a while. Someone is
researching the subculture of very early bootleg copies of the
original Star Wars, and contacted me when Google revealed this posting
of mine: "The Betamax Lesson: For YouTube and Others, Does Video
Quality Matter?" - http://j.mp/fKcZyc (Lauren's Blog)

Now I'm wracking my brain trying to remember the details of the very
first bootleg copy of SW I ever saw -- on monochrome reel-to-reel half
inch Sony videotape -- about 1000 years ago or so, not in a galaxy
far, far away.
