[ NNSquad ] Libya is apparently off the Net
Libya is apparently off the Net Libya has apparently effectively removed itself from the Internet, via the same BGP withdrawal technique used by Egypt recently. http://j.mp/dUKN04 (renesys blog) Note that bit.ly shortened links are unaffected, since most of the related .ly root servers are outside Libya. Also, just as a sidenote, all bit.ly links can also be written as j.mp links or any of the other wide variety of "white label" formats that sites use to create their own "branded" shortened link names through the bit.ly APIs. All of these links are also reportedly escrowed with the Internet Archive for protection. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://bit.ly/lauren-buzz Quora: http://www.quora.com/Lauren-Weinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com
