Sony demands Google turn over PS3 Jailbreak YouTube viewers, commenters, other data http://bit.ly/gQINyY (Wired [pdf]) Nutshell: Sony is demanding all data regarding who viewed or commented on a particular PS3 "jailbreak" video posted on YouTube, along with a range of other associated info. Of course, there are many similar PS3 jailbreak videos still on the Net, on YouTube and other sites. In fact, a Google Search for: "jail* ps3 3.55" yields, uh, 235K hits. The more Sony pushes this issue after the horse has already left the barn, the more widely the hack is known. It is also being widely speculated that this will all lead to even broader deployment of "phone home" DRM systems for games. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance: http://www.gctip.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://bit.ly/lauren-buzz Quora: http://www.quora.com/Lauren-Weinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com
