Bad Move: Google reportedly reduces Android app refund window from 24 hours to 15 min http://bit.ly/dPt7Wg (Androinica) I am an enormous Android fan, but I know that this will dramatically reduce my willingness to try paid apps. Even assuming that increasingly complex apps can be reasonably evaluated in 15 minutes, I'm frequently interrupted and can't guarantee having time to fully test immediately after downloading an app. Since there is no app approval process for Android -- generally a good thing compared with the bizarre and restricted iPhone ecosystem -- having sufficient time to test a paid app is crucial. This sounds like a case where Google's "most people refund quickly" metrics have not taken into account the anti-consumer appearance of this move, especially when the refund time is *reduced* by about 99% ! --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com) http://www.vortex.com/lauren Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 Co-Founder, PFIR (People For Internet Responsibility): http://www.pfir.org Founder, NNSquad (Network Neutrality Squad): http://www.nnsquad.org Founder, GCTIP (Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance): http://www.gctip.org Founder, PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member, ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://bit.ly/lauren-buzz
