[ NNSquad ] Google URL Shortener goes public
Google URL Shortener goes public http://bit.ly/aenFZP (Google Social Web Blog) Google's goo.gl shortening service has now been opened up for general use. Back when it was announced for limited use, I made queries about whether or not Google would "escrow" the associated links with a third party, as does (for example) bit.ly. This helps to protect links against changes in business circumstances and operations that might be difficult to foresee today. At the time, I was told that Google was considering this. I have now again made inquiries on this issue. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein (lauren@vortex.com) http://www.vortex.com/lauren Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 Co-Founder, PFIR (People For Internet Responsibility): http://www.pfir.org Co-Founder, NNSquad (Network Neutrality Squad): http://www.nnsquad.org Founder, GCTIP (Global Coalition for Transparent Internet Performance): http://www.gctip.org Founder, PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com Member, ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Google Buzz: http://bit.ly/lauren-buzz
