I've oversimplified the headline, but this rather odd New York Times
op-ed ("The Medium is the Medium") strikes me as significantly
off-base.  I love physical books, and certainly there are pluses and
minuses both to physical and e-book models.

But the author's attempt to essentially criticize the "egalitarian"
nature of the Internet strikes me as somewhat bizarre, especially when
so much of the world's greatest literature is available for free
on Google Books and from other Internet sites.

But read the piece for yourself and see what you think.
