I yelled at the screen and tried to incite a riot but the sheep kept grazing all placid-like and stared at me with vacant eyes. I came very close to walking out. That was one short commercial. Now, who thinks twice about 15 minutes of commercials for a movie they are paying $10.00 (or more) to see? > > Then, years ago the marketers with their commercials started dropping little 7-15 second commercials into videos. To many of us used to the internet they were shocking (revolting) and a few purists screamed. But they just kept on with the ads very, very slowly, patiently, cautious not to disturb the masses. After about two years, the shock wore off, people got used to them and they increased the commercials to 30 seconds and introduced them to more video content. Patiently they waited until people got used to them again. Now some of them are up to 45 seconds or more. > They knew they couldn't just barge in and corporatize the internet. The people using the internet wouldn't stand for it because it was totally out of character with the experience. But, they knew that if they did it very, very slowly, they could eventually make the internet experience just like TV-----almost non-stop blaring commercials. > > Isn't it warm and snuggly in this soup pot? > > Just relax, your corporate masters have everything under control. > >
