I was uncomfortable watching colleges and universities play policemen
for third parties decades ago, and I find it even more disturbing now,
significant piracy concerns notwithstanding.

This seems counter to the desire for net neutrality, especially given the history of free speech and free inquiry in universities. Time to spin off the resnet as an independent co-op?
