[ NNSquad ] FCC may reclassify Internet services under telephone rules
The article referenced below discusses how the FCC -- faced with the strong possibility that courts may rule that it has insufficient statutory authority under current law to enforce Net Neutrality rules -- may choose to reclassify broadband Internet services under the telephone regulatory umbrella to regain that authority. (Another route would be explicit Congressionally-granted authority.) One might assume that any attempt at such reclassification would itself be a likely target of legal challenges. --Lauren-- NNSquad Moderator ----- Forwarded message from David Farber <dave@farber.net> ----- Date: Thu, 14 Jan 2010 16:00:40 -0500 From: David Farber <dave@farber.net> Subject: [IP] FCC faces net neutrality hurdles, questions going forward Reply-To: dave@farber.net To: ip <ip@v2.listbox.com> Begin forwarded message: From: dewayne@warpspeed.com (Dewayne Hendricks) Date: January 14, 2010 3:10:59 PM EST To: Dewayne-Net Technology List <xyzzy@warpspeed.com> Subject: [Dewayne-Net] FCC faces net neutrality hurdles, questions going forward FCC faces net neutrality hurdles, questions going forward Washington Post By Cecilia Kang As comments on net neutrality pour into the Federal Communications Commission this week, fresh doubt has emerged over whether the agency even has the ability to enforce proposed new rules over broadband Internet service providers. <http://voices.washingtonpost.com/posttech/2010/01/fcc_net_neutrality_woes_questi.html> RSS Feed: <http://www.warpspeed.com/wordpress> ------------------------------------------- Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/247/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/247/ Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com ----- End forwarded message -----
