Ludovico Technique? Cable exec wants to change consumer behavior ...

http://bit.ly/2xEY1L (Techdirt)

Comcast's COO, speaking at a cable summit, has suggested the need
to change consumer behavior so that it:

"... respects copyright and subscription revenue on the part of
        distributors ..."

A laudable goal, to be sure. But there's a problem, and it's as
ancient as mankind. We are fundamentally very physical animals. And
while most of us appreciate intellectually the concept of "owning"
non-physical merchandise, I'm not convinced that we as a species are
really capable of reacting that way at the gut level.

It's notable that most of the same persons who openly pirate music and
films for their own use (or just to collect and never even hear or
view), would never dream of stealing a physical pack of chewing gum.

Take this lack of "physicality" associated with much intellectual
property, and combine it with ongoing technological change, and you
end up in the situation I discussed last March:

It's difficult to see how the old business models can survive
indefinitely under these circumstances.
