George brings up a significant point. There was an awful lot of piling on to AT&T in this case in the absence of direct evidence that AT&T was involved in the Google Voice reject (and it *was* a reject, Apple's current protests to the contrary notwithstanding). I'm willing to take AT&T's statement of noninvolvement in this particular case at face value based on what we know right now. I have focused my own concerns in this case at Apple, not at AT&T. The Google Voice situation strikes me as basically another example of Apple's screwed up (in my opinion) handling of iPhone apps, and I have not been interested in yelling loudly at AT&T about this in the absence of proof of AT&T complicity. Frankly, it would have been so hamfisted for AT&T to try block GV that way that it didn't seem likely to me, but for Apple to block GV was completely in keeping with Apple's app approval modus operandi up to now. Many of the people pointing at AT&T as a culprit seemed to have assumed that GV was a VoIP product that bypassed use of wireless minutes, but for the current GV app this is not the case, as I have pointed out in various venues. I would agree with George that some apologies would seem to be in order from various of the "Why AT&T Killed Google Voice" articles' authors. --Lauren-- NNSquad Moderator - - - > > > > From: nnsquad-bounces+george_ou=lanarchitect.net@nnsquad.org > [mailto:nnsquad-bounces+george_ou=lanarchitect.net@nnsquad.org] On Behalf Of > Lauren Weinstein > Sent: Saturday, August 22, 2009 2:09 PM > To: nnsquad@nnsquad.org > Subject: [ NNSquad ] The Truth: What's Really Going On With Apple, Google, > AT&T and the FCC > > > > >
