It seems to me there's an implicit assumption in this debate, that if
you are able to "manage" P2P, traffic will decrease.
I tend to believe that if you "manage" P2P, traffic wil take other
forms (ftp, http,.. whatever)
this is something that, to my understanding, apparently is starting to
happen with
- some web-based email services. "signaling" and "trust" are built on
some outside networks (forums) and transfer happens via email
(generally served from a different country)
- some online storage services
I think the decreasing cost of storage and large pipes is contributing
to this.
Should we inspect people's emails ? Are we sure P2P is *The* problem ?
