[ NNSquad ] A complaint from Brett Glass -- and a note on moderation
Greetings. Brett Glass has asserted (in private mail) that some of my editorial comments regarding his statements are ad hominem attacks and insulting. Having gone back through the archive, I must admit that I don't read my comments that way, and I personally think that I've maintained considerable restraint in my comments, but I offered to note his concern publicly and he accepted. Done. While we're on the topic of comments, I'll also take this opportunity to note specifically that I use my own judgment in deciding which messages to send to the list, and regarding when I choose to include demarcated editorial comments (often as an alternative to not sending out a particular short or "we've heard this before" message at all). Brett claims that I'm not "neutral" in my moderation of this list. I agree. Only a truly disinterested party could be really neutral on such a controversial topic, and I'm not disinterested. However, I have never claimed to be neutral. What I do claim is that I attempt to make sure that all points of view on these topics have a reasonable chance to be heard and discussed, and I believe that a review of the archive will suggest that this has been and continues to be accomplished, in an imperfect though I believe appropriate manner. I do the best that I can, gang. --Lauren-- NNSquad Moderator
